PHONETIC SYMBOLS FOR WESTERN ARMENIAN
=====================================

The chart below gives the phonetic symbols for most of the sounds of Western Armenian (the remainder will follow soon). Each line shows an illustrative word for the sound, followed by its IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet) symbol and its Sampa symbol. Sampa is designed for easy keyboard typing. Note that it uses numbers as well as letters, and that capital letters mean something different from small letters.

Clicking the 'Listen' icon demonstrates the specific sound between two vowels ('a_a'), followed by the illustrative word.
